Sheep Llanover Estate is the home of one of the oldest pedigree flocks of Black Welsh Mountain Sheep. The flock was established by Lady Llanover in the nineteenth century. It is currently one of the largest flocks in the country, numbering 109 ewes, 3 rams and 17 ewe-lambs. In 2001 lambs were sold to owners wishing to reestablish flocks lost in the foot and mouth epidemic. In 2003, 30 lambs were sold to a landowner in Essex who wished to establish a new pedigree flock. Sheep from the flock are shown at the Royal Welsh Show and the Breeders Show and Sale. No more stock is available for sale this year. If you have queries regarding the availability of breeding stock for sale in 2008, please contact James Perks at james@llanover.com Grazing The estates have areas of grasskeep periodically offered for lease. The length of the FBT lease or grazing licence can be negotiated separately, outside the annual grasskeep auction. The next Grasskeep auction is in March 2009.
